PIERRE, SD (AP) Attorney General Marty Jackley says he’s forming a political committee with about $700,000 in the bank as he prepares to run for governor in 2018.
Jackley told The Associated Press on Tuesday that the group will include funds from his attorney general committee and a separate political action committee.
Jackley’s move came a day after U.S. Rep. Kristi Noem announced her own run, first reported by the Sioux Falls Argus Leader.
Both Republicans were moving ahead of a change in state law that would have limited how much money they could transfer from existing campaign accounts into bids for new political office.
